A rented sales rep is an outbound agency model: a monthly fee for a named representative who prospects, calls, and books meetings under the client's brand, usually $6,000 to $15,000 a month per rep, dedicated or shared.

It's our name for what the industry calls SDR as a service. The pitch is that you skip the hiring, the ramp, and the turnover, and get a producing rep in a few weeks. That's true as far as it goes.

What the model doesn't fix is the list. A rented rep working a database pull through a sequencer books the same low-fit meetings an appointment setter does, because the problem was never who was dialing. It was who they were dialing. A rep, rented or hired, working a list of companies where something just happened books better meetings than either, and needs fewer dials to do it.

An example

A software company rents a dedicated rep at $9,000 a month. The rep gets a list of 2,000 VPs of Customer Success from a database, sends a five-email sequence to all of them, and calls the ones who open. In month three the rep has booked nine meetings, four of which the AEs rejected as unqualified. The agency calls it nine. The client calls it five, at $5,400 each.

What to ask

Is the rep dedicated or shared, and across how many accounts. Who builds the list, and from what. Whether the client sees every call outcome or just dials made. And what happens when the rep leaves, because they will.
